Nico­laes Berchem was a pro­lif­ic Dutch Gold­en Age painter of pas­toral land­scapes, pop­u­lat­ed with mytho­log­i­cal or bib­li­cal fig­ures, but also of a num­ber of alle­gories and genre pieces.
